Words of Wisdom From The Dark Tower Series

The Dark Tower is a book series that has captured the imagination of millions of fans across the world. There is not shortage of incredible quotes found in each book, that can make people stop reading, sit, and think about their life. Here are just a few that we think are some of the greatest to come out of the book series. For those who have already read it, you probably b already know which ones we’ve chosen.

“Opinion is politics, and politics is an evil which has caused many a fellow to be hung while he’s still young and pretty.”

“A coward judges all he sees by what he is.”

“He who speaks without an attentive ear is mute.”

“Because often, silence is best.”

“Control the things you can control, maggot. Let everything else take a flying fuck at you, and if you must go down, go down with your guns blazing.”

“A man who can’t bear to share his habits is a man who needs to quit them.”

“It seemed to him that the most horrible fact of human existence was that broken hearts mended.”

“There are people who need people to need them.”

“Battles that last five minutes spawn legends that live a thousand years.”

“A person’s never too old for stories. Man and boy, girl and woman, never too old. We live for them.”

“Our time here is brief, our risk enormous. Don’t waste the one or increase the other, if you please.”

“Sometimes I think we’d all be better off if the people who mean well would just creep away and die.”

“The prosaic fact of the universe’s existence alone defeats both the pragmatist and the romantic.”

“True love, like any other strong and addicting drug, is boring — once the tale of encounter and discovery is told, kisses quickly grow stale and caresses tiresome… except, of course, to those who share the kisses, who give and take the caresses while every sound and color of the world seems to deepen and brighten around them. As with any other strong drug, true first love is really only interesting to those who have become its prisoners.”

“God pisses down the back of your neck every day but only drowns you once.”

“You must never draw until you know how many are against you, or you’ve satisfied yourself that you can never know, or you’ve decided it’s your day to die.”

“Anger is the most useless emotion; destructive to the mind and hurtful of the heart.”

“No one ever does live happily ever after, but we leave the children to find that out for themselves.”

“Any statement beginning with the words ‘In truth’ is almost always a lie.”

“When everything’s a surprise, experience takes on a dreamlike quality.”

The series has been sold over 30 million times, and the entire series is 4,250 pages in total.

The comic series is cool. The books: awful. The beginning line is one of the best i ve ever read for a fantasy novel, though. Too bad the rest of the story gets messed up by the other characters, the totally random happenings that end up having no impact on the main storyline whatsoever, the dimension door things, the time travelling things, the all “robots are bad” technophobic clichés, and the totally predictable main story line. Really, the only parts I found exciting – apart from the first book – were the backstories of Roland and Father Calahan.

I love how every book is a different type of beast. Haven’t read past the fifth book, I can’t wait for the ending, but at the same time I never want it to end. Definitely my favourite story of all-time.
