It won’t be the first occasion when that a Rick/Michonne romance has been hinted at; 2 years back,at the series Comic-Con appearance, audience members had romance on the agenda – particularly, a Michonne/Rick matching was proposed, to which “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman said, “Anything is possible.” Co-star Norman Reedus piggybacked the thought, clarifying that, in light of the mutual pain both Daryl and Michonne shared, a Michonne and Daryl romance was also conceivable. “Everyone’s losing people left and right, but both those characters are sort of loner characters who are learning to deal with a group and be part of a group, and I think it’ll just bring us closer together,” Reedus said.

In a piece distributed by The Hollywood Reporter – with the title “‘The Walking Dead’: Is Love Next for Rick and Michonne?” – the on-screen character who plays Michonne, the stunning and gifted Danai Gurira, had this to say: “I always say to [showrunner Scott] Gimple that she’s the nun and she don’t get none! But it’s cool, it shows that there’s a palpable true friendship there [for Michonne and Rick] that people can pick up on. But there’s a friendship there that I treasure with Michonne’s connection with Rick. He’s the one who really challenges her to step out of who she was and who she was becoming. After that fight with the Governor, she was becoming something quite ugly… She had to go through that because of Rick, so that caused her to have a respect for him, and eventually he gained a trust and respect for her. There’s definitely an intimacy of friendship there.”

So not quite conviction one way or the other; she appreciates the friendship both characters have, yet she’d additionally like to see the character “get some.”

Also, what does showrunner Gimple have to say in regards to that? From the same Hollywood Reporter story, here’s his take: “They have a very intimate relationship, that’s the funny thing. People are like, ‘Oh my God, what if they were together?’ They’re really, really intimate. They have done things for each other that’s familial or deep, deep, deep friendship. But the way that they speak to each other — for example in [the season five finale] — represents how far these people have come with each other… The fact that they reached that bedroom in Alexandria when they had that conversation where Rick admitted that he had a gun and was going to give it to her. I think they have an incredibly intimate relationship right now. Where that goes, who knows? I think there’s something to be said about those two characters’ journeys right now.”

Once again, more uncertainty; despite the fact that they absolutely aren’t closing the possibility down. But, you truly don’t think that they would reveal everything right? In the event that a romance  is something you’re simply dying to see, you’ll need to tune in and watch the series when it comes back in October on AMC.
