Nicki Minaj isn’t the only rapper who has Miley Cyrus on her black list. Vince Staples isn’t feeling the psychedelic pop star either.
The 22-year-old Long Beach up-and-comer told i-D, “I don’t f*** with Miley Cyrus. I don’t like what Miley Cyrus said about Kendrick Lamar.” Staples was referencing Cyrus’ remarks about Lamar from her Marie Claire cover interview, where she said, “Kendrick Lamar sings about LSD and he’s cool. I do it and I’m a druggie whore.”
“She needs to say sorry,” Staples continued. “It was very salty. Hasn’t she got some Disney money to spend? She should be very happy. I think she confused him with someone else.”
Cyrus probably had Lamar confused with A$AP Rocky, who has a song called L$D and has openly discussed the drug’s influence on his new album — a point Staples was sure to make.
“She didn’t know who she was talking about,” he said. “Kendrick Lamar doesn’t have a song about LSD — that’s A$AP Rocky. So is it either you don’t know what you’re talking about or is it all black people look alike? Either one is fine with me but shut the f*** up Miley Cyrus.”
Meanwhile, he did have nice things to say about Taylor Swift. Aside from picking Swift in a Celebrity Deathmatch bout against Cyrus, he said, “I love Taylor Swift because she got a little bit of my publishing back with that whole Apple Music thing she did. Anyone who has a problem with Taylor Swift, I’m supporting her because I’m trying to buy a home right now.
