Sometimes when you’re writing a piece, it can be fun when you’re getting involved and have tons of ideas flowing. On the other hand, there will be times when you’re at a block and have absolutely no idea as to what to write about. How do you get over these tough times and make sure that you get to your deadlines on time? Here are some ways to get over that struggling writer’s block:
Take some time off
Don’t force yourself to write if you’re not in the mood to do it. Take your mind off of things and let yourself relax and really enjoy some time off from constantly writing. If you’re always forcing and forcing yourself to write more and more, you’ll just be draining yourself dry.
Think about it from a different perspective.
If you’re thinking about the book from direction, stop and think about it from the perspective of a different character in your novel. You might come up with new and different ideas that may be intriguing to you that you may have never explored before.
Talk about the work with someone else.
Even if working from a different perspective isn’t helping you, you can always talk to friends and get their advice on what to do. They might be able to think in a completely different mindset then you have been in the past and will be able to contribute a different angle to your story.
Plan it out.
We’ve all been told in the past to always brainstorm. The same should happen when you’re writing a book. Instead of just always thinking about the here and now, think about where you want the characters of your book to end up and maybe you’ll be able to come up with ways to get them there.
Hopefully these tips were enough to help you out with the next time you reach a writer’s block!
