Ryan Gosling Finally Eats His Cereal

gosling3You may already know him from movies like The Notebook, Lars and the Real Girl, Drive, The Place Beyond the Pines, and for his distaste for cereal! Well, not really. His distaste for cereal actually comes from a viral video created by Ryan McHenry, the filmmaker who originally posted the video “Ryan Gosling Won’t Eat His Cereal.”

The video is actually a compilation of Ryan Gosling movies and interviews where a spoon of cereal is being slowly offered to Gosling, and every time he rejects it. It was a funny compilation that went viral after a short amount of time. Unfortunately, Ryan McHenry died on Sunday after a vicious, two year battle with cancer. In honour of the 27 year old McHenry, Gosling poured himself a bowl of Corn Flakes Cereal, and finally ate a spoonful.

The partner of Eva Mendes also shared a personal message on Twitter, saying that “My heart goes out to all of Ryan McHenry’s family and friends. Feel very lucky to have been apart of his life in some small way.”

gosling2During his final days, McHenry was able to create a series of personal videos titled “cancer selfies” which documented his battle with osteosarcoma from his hospital bed. He gained such popularity and such a following that his fans were able to raise him $10,000 so he could start his life against after his operation on his leg. Sadly, his leg surgery wasn’t enough to stop cancer. He opened up to The Verge on how he wished gosling would respond to his video.

“As a filmmaker, I like to have a conclusion to things,” he mentioned. “The only conclusion I can see out of this whole thing is to have Ryan Gosling respond to this. Even if it’s just him eating cereal.” Although the two never met while McHenry was alive, they did speak over Twitter. Gosling’s response to McHenry has prompted fans to give, and launching a JustGiving page, which has already reached $5,000.
