As an artist or a designer, you’re sure to be browsing the pantone color books for reference in any area. The color of the year for Pantone has officially been announced as Marsala. A lot of people are distraught over the color choice because Marsala is a pretty brown-ished, reddish hue. It’s not the prettiest of colors, and we wouldn’t call it anyone’s favorite, but it sure is a pretty color to match with clothes and makeup.
18-1438 Marsala comes after the 2014 Radiant Orchid and before that was the 2013 Emerald. The color is described as being sensual and bold, “exuding confidence and stability while feeding the body, mind, and soul. Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this robust shade incorporates the warmth and richness of a tastefully fulfilling meal, while its ground red-brown roots point to a sophisticated natural earthiness.
“For more than a decade, Pantone’s Colour of the Year has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home and industrial design, as well as product packaging and graphic design,”
This year’s hue is really workable and less vibrant than the years prior. We think that it’s a pretty good color to incorporate in your designs!
